Melba A. Cummings, 89, of Clarksville, TN, passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at Dogwood Bend Assisted Living.

Melba was born on January 6, 1928, in Robertson County, TN to the late Jasper R. Hudgens and Ruby Wilson Hudgens. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Roy Cummings; three brothers, Jay Hudgens, Haywood Hudgens, and Ray Hudgens; and two sisters, Rebecca Arnce and Nelda Rosson.

Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at the Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Rev. Byron Dumas officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Melba retired from Wortham's Grocery.

Melba is survived by her son, Rex Cummings (Deborah) of Clarksville, TN; her beloved companion of 62 years, Dr. Landon Dority of Clarksville, TN; brother, Jimmy Hudgens of Kentucky; three sisters, Faye York of Clarksville, TN, Nancy Shamwell of Greenbrier, TN, and Sara Carter of Pleasant View, TN; three grandchildren, Joshua Cummings, Meagan Cummings, and Amy Morrison; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
