Myrtle Francis Mathews, age 88, of Clarksville, passed away Friday, May 26, 2017, at her residence. 

Myrtle was born March 1, 1929, in Russellville, KY, to the late James Glenn and Gertrude White Glenn. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Jackie Phillips Wilkerson; two brothers, Leonard Glenn and Jimmy Glenn; and sister, Barbara Lowe. 

She was a dedicated homemaker, a wonderful mother, and a member of Hilldale Baptist Church. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, May 29, at 1:00 PM, at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, with Dr. Larry Robertson and Dr. Mark Mathews officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, in Russellville, KY. Visitation will be Sunday, May 28, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM, and Monday, May 29, from 11:00 AM until the hour of service, at the funeral home. 

Myrtle is survived by her husband, Harold Mathews; son, Hal (Mary Beth) Mathews of Clarksville; two daughters, Mona (John) Moss of Dothan, AL and April Mathews (Andres) Rodriguez of Clarksville; one brother, Richard Glenn of Kaiserslautern, Germany; eight grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. 

Pallbearers will be John Brietenmoser, Chris Mathews, Jeff Mathews, Zach Brown, Trevor Mimms, Scott Moss, and Preston Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the John Freed Sunday School Class (formerly Harold Mathews' class). 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 4825 Trousdale Drive, Suite 220, Nashville, TN 37220; or to the Hilldale Baptist Church Building Fund, 2001 Madison Street, Clarksville, TN 37043. 

The family would like to thank the staff of AseraCare Hospice, as well as Katrina, Connie, Lindsay, Barbara, and Kelsea, for their excellent care to Myrtle, during her final days.
