Bettie Jean Dennis

With profound sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Bettie Jean Dennis, on January 31, 2021.  She left us while sleeping peacefully at her home in Ruskin, Florida.  She was in her 86th year.  She was of the Baptist faith.

Mom was born in Van Dyke, Michigan to William and Helen Rauh (both deceased) on September 25, 1934. She married Aaron Kahl in 1950, who predeceased her in 1961.  She remarried to Norman Dennis in 1964 who predeceased her in 2008.

She is the beloved mother of Virginia (Ron), Michael (deceased), Donald, aka Daryl (Alice), Aaron (Ipek, deceased), and Brian (Janice).  She is the proud grandmother of 6, great grandmother of 7, and great, great grandmother of 2. 

She is the dear sister of Stella (deceased), Robert, Sandra, David, and Cheryl.

Mom worked in various fields during her life and retired from the Clarksville Montgomery County School System in Clarksville, Tennessee prior to moving to Florida for retirement.

Mom loved to travel and was well travelled.  Norman was career military.  In addition to being stationed at numerous Army bases in the U.S., they did two tours in Germany and Norman did two tours in Viet Nam.  She loved bowling.  She and Norman were league players for quite some time.  Mom also loved camping and fishing and was better at fishing than her husband and sons.

She was an insatiable shopper and “collector”.  She has left us with tons of stuff we have no idea what to do with.  Stay tuned for yard sales!

She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

A celebration of Mom’s life will be held Monday, February 8, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home with Minister Paul Eaves Officiating. Visitation will be Monday, February 8, 2021 from 9:00 AM until the hour of service.

Flowers sent to the funeral home or donations to any Hospice or Alzheimer’s charity are welcome and appreciated
