Charles William "Charlie Bill" Persinger, Sr.

Charlie Bill Persinger, age 86, of Clarksville, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Fieldstone Place Assisted Living.

Charlie Bill was born September 17, 1936, in Beckley, WV, to the late Leonard Persinger and Orene Bostick Persinger. He lived all of his adult life in Clarksville after moving to the area for work and school.

He was always proud to share his love of West Virginia, but his heart tied him to Tennessee when he met his sweetheart and late wife. After moving to Tennessee, he attended Austin Peay State University. Charlie Bill worked more than 30 years in fertilizer sales and enjoyed building lifelong relationships with local farmers. He had a big, green thumb too, as his gardens were bountiful and beautiful.

Charlie Bill was a Christian and member of Bethel United Methodist Church, where he volunteered in several different ways over the years, including grounds keeper. He especially enjoyed the Men's UM Breakfast Club.

Charlie Bill enjoyed bird hunting and bird dog trials and competitions. He also enjoyed deer and rabbit hunting with his sons and grandson. Later in life, he spent many days and nights watching his grandchildren at ball games. He also enjoyed hosting annual fall gatherings where hayrides would happen along with hotdogs and s'mores on the fire.

He was a kind and good-hearted person who enjoyed socializing with friends and family. Even when his health declined, he remained positive and strong.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday, September 25, at 2:00 PM, at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, September 25, at 1:00 PM, at the funeral home.

In addition to his parents, Charlie Bill is preceded in death by his sweetheart and wife of 62 years, Mary Lu Allen Persinger; sister, Sherry Shapiro; and stepfather, Jack Miller.

He is survived by his two sons, Allen (Laura) Persinger of Lebanon, TN and Bill (Lee) Persinger of Clarksville, TN; sister, Marcia (Russell) King of Lewisburg, WV; five grandchildren, Amy (Ritchie) Patton, Lainey Persinger, Watson Persinger, all of Clarksville, TN, Hunter Lamoreaux, of Lebanon, TN, and Bailee Lamoreaux of Las Vegas, NV; three great grandchildren, Andrew Patton, Lincoln Patton, and Ollie Patton, all of Clarksville, TN; stepsister, Joan Miller Dickerson, of Fayetteville, WV; and many other special and close extended family members.

Pallbearers will be Watson Persinger, Hunter Lamoreaux, Rob Durrett, Matt Hadley, Bailey Allen, and Hughes Johnson.
