Clara (Atkins) Rorie

Clara Atkins Rorie, age 86, of Clarksville, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at Tennova Healthcare.

Clara was born May 21, 1935, in Indian Mound, TN, to the late Clinton Atkins and Annie Smith Atkins Sanders. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Bobby Rorie; and one sister, Lenora Oliver.

She is survived by three daughters, Rita (Greg) Vann, Donna (Larry) Brown, and Lydia (Steve) Hamel; one sister, Sue Burkhart; three grandchildren, Lauren Brown, Joshua Schultz, and Bradley Hamel; two great grandchildren, Evan Brown and Emmett Brown; three nieces, Millie McDowell, Connie Daniels, and Paula Waynick; and several nephews.

Mrs. Rorie was an RN and proudly served her community at the Montgomery County Health Department for many years. She was very artistic and enjoyed painting and arranging flowers. She started the Girl Scouts in Pleasant View and loved supporting the Nashville Rescue Mission. Clara was a member of Clarksville Highway Church of Christ, in Joelton, as well as the Home Demonstration Club. She was very kind, loving, had a great sense of humor, and a servant's heart. She raised three amazing girls who she loved dearly. One of her favorite daily pass times was watching the Andy Griffith Show. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, May 21, at 2:30 PM, at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, with Rev. Duane McDowell officiating. Burial will follow at Smith-Austin Cemetery, in Indian Mound. Visitation will be Saturday, May 21, from 11:30 AM until the time of service, at the funeral home.
