Daniel McCloud Meadows

April 22, 1948 ~ July 14, 2021 (age 73) 73 Years Old

Tribute

Daniel McCloud Meadows, age 73, died July 14, 2021 on his farm in Port Royal. After fighting metastatic sarcoma for 3 1/2 years, he now rests comfortably in his heavenly home. Dan was born April 22, 1948 in Nashville, TN, to Willis A. Meadows and Mary Lucille Nevin Meadows. In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his brother Captain Stephen Lee Meadows and his sister Betty Clair Meadows Scott.

Dan is survived by his wife of 49 years Julia Van Cleve Marks Meadows, three children Julia Wilcox Meadows Phares (Allyn), Robert Willis Meadows (Valerie), and Megan Lucille Meadows Jones (Steven). He is also survived by three grandchildren Robert Willis Meadows II (Paige), Ellie Suzanne Meadows, and Livia Grey Jones, and a godchild Charity Alley Nuckolls (David). Two nieces, four nephews, and three great nephews also survive.

Dan was a 1966 graduate of Clarksville High School and attended Austin Peay State University. He began his working life at Meadows Office Machines. In 1973 he started his own contracting business, Dan Meadows Construction Company, which was his labor of love for forty years. Dan truly loved to work, and he passed his strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit to his children and grandchildren. He could fix almost anything; he had the gift to instantly see how something worked. He was happiest digging in the dirt, mowing his fields, and enjoying the wonders of nature. Dan loved woodworking, antiques, anything sweet, and good dogs---most especially his pug Rosco. Dan lived a blessed life; he was devoted to God and his church, his wife and family, and his Port Royal farm. He was a good man, through and through---the kind of husband and father people can only dream of.

Dan was a lifelong Episcopalian and was a member of Grace Chapel Episcopal, where he maintained the grounds for over forty years and was instrumental in the Chapel's restoration.

Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Chapel Episcopal, P.O. Box 3845, Clarksville, TN. 37043.

The family extends sincere thanks to AseraCare Hospice for their competent and compassionate care, which allowed Dan to die on the farm he loved for 71 years. Much gratitude is extended also to Stacey Merriweather, Zelma Hill, Jennifer Foster, Joy Suiter, and Lisa Phares. The love and kindness of the Port Royal community throughout Dan's illness was truly humbling.

The family will hold a private memorial service, which may be viewed via live stream, Saturday, August 7, at 2:00 PM, by clicking the link below.

Arrangements are entrusted to Neal-Tarpley Parchman Funeral Home, 1510 Madison Street, Clarksville, TN. 37040.
