Elizabeth Lee (Manuel) Way

Elizabeth Lee Way was born on March 4, 1928, in Greencastle, IN to William and Lola Manuel.

She married Alton Way in 1949 and they eventually settled in Clarksville where he ran an outdoor drive-in theatre. Like many for generations before, they for the most part kept in their typical roles, Alton as "bread winner" and Elizabeth as "homemaker". It was a role she sought and excelled at. She not only raised four children but was an outstanding cook preparing most every meal the family ate while keeping up with the mountains of laundry.

The Ways joined New Providence United Methodist Church and for many years he directed the choir while she played the organ and piano. Many friendships formed from church and Elizabeth hosted a great many parties and events over the years.

Elizabeth was big on collecting different things at different times, especially Nativity scenes. Her favorite hobby was Ceramics. She became quite good at painting them. As she turned 90 in March 2018, she still had no great-grandchildren, but that soon changed. By her death on Tuesday, January 1, 2019, she was blessed to know she had 3 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and youngest child, Bruce.

She is survived by two sons, Stuart (Carol) and Glenn (Jeannie); one daughter, Cindi (Bing) Verbist; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Per her wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date.
