July 2, 2015 ~ February 13, 2020 (age 4) 4 Years Old

Tribute

Emiliana “Emmi” Buchweitz, 4, of Clarksville, TN, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2020, at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in the arms of her parents. Emmi was born July 2, 2015, in Clarksville, TN, to Adam and Nancy Buchweitz.

Psalm 139:13-16 says “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”

While we were waiting for Emmi’s arrival, we had peace knowing that God had designed and formed her body. When she was born early and needed medical attention, we had peace knowing that she was God’s child before she was ours. She was given to us so that we could love her well and raise her to love others like Christ loves us. Nothing about her life was a surprise to God! Not the early start. Not the leukemia. Not the stem cell transplant. He knew her beginning and he knew her end. While we cannot understand why she’s no longer in our arms, she’s in Jesus’ embrace and free from struggle.

Emmi was a special little girl with a radiant smile. Her giggle was infectious. She loved to snuggle up and read books with her best friend “One Lambie.” She had a strong adventurous spirit! She was a little fish and loved splashing and swimming. She was so smart and clever! Some of her favorite things were solving problems and making plans. Her expansive vocabulary continually surprised us with new additions like “hydrated” and “camouflage,” doubly so because her understanding was always correct.

She would happily join our morning quiet times using her Bible App, learning the stories so deeply that she would reference obscure details whenever she saw a parallel. She memorized Psalm 23 and Psalm 19 and recited them before bedtime. She brought incredible joy to our lives. She held our hands and helped us be brave. She taught us, and continues to teach us, so much about love.

Her Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, February 19, at 2:00 p.m., at First Baptist Church of Clarksville Faith Building.  Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 18, from 4:00-8:00 p.m., at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home.

In addition to her parents, Emmi is survived by her sister, Rose Buchweitz, maternal grandparents, Marshall and Cheryl Greiman; paternal grandparents, Steve and Brenda Buchweitz; maternal great grandparents, Richard and Nancy Ohrt; and paternal great grandparents, Charles and Shirley Buchweitz and Ivan and Doris York.

Any financial contributions will be distributed to between the family’s needs, charities, and organizations that have supported the family along this difficult road.
