Loving husband and father, Eugene "Gene" Vladimir Valehrach, passed away Friday, July 16, 2021, at the age of 93, after complications from dementia and a stroke. He was surrounded by loved ones who will miss him dearly.
Gene was born in Elmhurst, NY in 1927, to the late Charles and Irma Valehrach. He moved to the Bronx as a baby and traveled to Belgium and Czechoslovakia as a child. He was a graduate of Bronx High School of Science and received a Bachelor Degree in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Between high school and college he served in the Army for two years near the end of World War II.
His professional career began with IBM, but he quickly joined Burndy in their sales training program. After 13 years, Gene moved to Hughes Aircraft Company to serve as Director of Marketing. He finished his career as Director of Marketing for Jennings, a division of ITT.
Gene is survived by his wife of over 70 years, Theresa; his son, Craig (wife Maria); daughter, Kris Lee (husband Tim); granddaughters, Nicole (husband Greg), Alexandra (husband Robert), and Hannah (husband Thomas); great granddaughters, Sophia, Lilith, and Wendy; and extended family in both Belgium and Czech Republic.
A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, July 27, at 2:00 PM, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Father Rick Childress officiating. A private burial will follow. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 27, from 1:00 PM until the hour of service, at the church.
