Garry Gene Goering

Garry Goering, age 70, of Clarksville, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2020 at Tennova Healthcare.

Garry was born in 1949 to the late Glenn G. Goering and Dorothy I. Dicken in Torrington, Wyoming.  He is also preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Linda and one of his younger sisters, Tonia.

Joining the Army in October 1968, Mr. Goering was retired from the U.S. Army after 22 years of active service as a Chief Warrant Officer 3 serving in Vietnam, Germany, South Korea and many forts in the United States, retiring in November of 1990 at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.  He served another 25 years of civil service at Fort Campbell, as an Electronics Technician and supervisor for the Air Traffic Control Maintenance section supporting Fort Campbell and Sabor Army Airfields, retiring after his wife’s passing in December 2015.

Garry and his wife will be interned together at the Western Kentucky Veterans Cemetery between Hopkinsville and Fort Campbell, Kentucky.  At Mr. Goering’s request, there will be only a grave site service where he will receive his final Military Veterans Honors.

Services will be held at a later date.

Garry had many hobbies, which included flying, motorcycle riding, classic car restoration, model railroading, gun and coin collecting. 

Garry is survived by his two sons, Edwin J. Goering and Glenn G. Goering both of Clarksville; three sisters, Vickie, Linda and Sandra; and three grandsons, Benjamin, Timothy and Teddy.
