Gary Mathews

Gary Mathews, age 80, of Clarksville, passed away Sunday, November 7, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Mathews was born on  April 7, 1941 to the late Carson Mathews and Vera Harris. Gary is preceded in death by his brothers, Harold Mathews and Calvin Mathews; and sisters, Louise Bowring and Olene Burchett. 

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Mathews; son, Greg (Tess) Mathews; daughter, Shelia Yarbrough (Freddy Baggett); grandchildren, Levi (Ashley) Mathews, Landen (Mckenzie) Mathews, and Lauren Yarbrough, her father (Terry Yarbrough); great grandchildren, Laci, Lakelyn, and Lydia Mathews.

Mr. Mathews was the owner of Gary Mathews Nissan and Gary Mathews Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Clarksville.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, November 11, at 2:00 PM, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Williams and Gary Akins officiating. Burial will follow at Sango Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 10, from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, and Thursday, November 11, from 12:00 PM until the hour of service, at First Baptist Church. 

Pallbearers: Chris Shearon, Hal Mathews, David Mathews, Donnie Mathews, Larry Parr, Larry Alexander, David Feltman and Buddy Plunkett. 

Honorary Pallbearers: Jimmy Smartt, Ron Sleigh, Charles Hand, Curtis Johnson, Dotson Guinn, Mark Blick and Keith Bennett.
