Guy "Don" Donald Stone

Guy Donald “Don” Stone, 79, of Clarksville, TN died peacefully Saturday, June 19, 2021, in Amarillo, Texas.   He was born in Clarksville on December 3, 1941, son of the late Guy Stone and the late Mary Stone and was predeceased by his wife Elinor Stone, brother John Stone and sister Louisa Goldman.  He leaves behind a myriad of friends and family including his son and daughter Andy Stone (Liana) and Karen Stone (Patty), his grandson Aaron Stone, his sister Becky Moore, brother Steve Stone, and Don's companion Raylene.

Don had a long career which took him everywhere from Alaska to South Africa.  Don  was a graduate of Austin Peay University with degrees in math and physics and began his career in the Air Force, working in NORAD and Strategic Air Command before discharging at the rank of Captain. Don then worked for decades for a variety of Department of Energy and Department of Defense contractors before retiring from Pantex.

Don loved classic cars (particularly Studebakers) and often had entirely too many of them.  He was also partial to cats, cigars, tinkering and NASCAR, and seemed to always have a camera hanging from his neck. He was a smart, laid-back man with a great sense of humor and will be very missed.  

A small graveside service will be held Saturday, July 24, at 5:00 PM, with close family members, where his ashes will be laid with his wife, Elinor, at Salem Cemetery.
