Harley Lynn Hunter, age 91, died July 24, 2017, at home. He was born in Live Oak, FL to William Arch and Stella Brenan Hunter on April 11, 1926.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, most of the time spent in the Pacific Theater.

After leaving the Marine Corps, he began a career in the insurance business which spanned over 50 years from agent to managerial positions in Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee.
 
Upon his retirement in 1988, he and his wife moved to Clarksville where he spent 20 years with the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library.

He was known everywhere he has lived for his civic involvement. In Clarksville, he was a member of the Kiwanis Club, a lifetime member of Salvation Army Advisory Board, member of the National Association of Financial Advisors for over 60 years, and Past Commandant of the local Marine Corps League.

He has been an active member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church for 30 years.

Lynn is survived by his wife, Peggy Irvin Hunter; one daughter, Gail Anderson (Ron) of Estill Springs, TN; three grandsons, David Adams, Tom Adams, and Hunter Anderson; four great-grandchildren; two nephews, Lynn Hunter Rogers and David Rogers of Florida; and one niece, Elaine Albertson of Alaska.

In addition to his parents, Lynn is preceded in death by his daughter, Ava Carolyn Adams; brother, Dr. William Hal Hunter (Esther); and sister, Myrtis Clara Rogers (Lawrence).

Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, July 28, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Dr. Steve Louder officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 28, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
