James Edward Shaffer, Jr.,age 77, of Indian Mound, TN, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at his residence. 

James was born August 27, 1939, in Johnstown, PA, to the late James Edward Shaffer, Sr. and Regina LaBuda Shaffer. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Stephanie Peace. 
Mr. Shaffer was a retired firefighter from the District of Columbia Fire Department, and he was a US Navy veteran. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, July 26, at 11:00 AM, at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, with Rev. Steve Lannom officiating. Burial will follow at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, in Nashville. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 25, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, and Wednesday, July 26, from 9:00 AM until the hour of service, at the funeral home. 

James is survived by his wife, Connie Cober Shaffer; three sons, Michael Shaffer of Clarksville, TN, James E. and Kim Shaffer III of Lebanon, TN, and Mark Robert Shaffer of Fredericksburg, VA; three half-brothers, Michael Shaffer and John Shaffer, both of Pittsbugh, PA, and Joseph Shaffer of Los Angeles, CA; half-sister, Mary Agnes Shaffer of Boston, MA; ten grandchildren, Christopher Hottel, Steven Shaffer, Britni Williams, Allison Vincent, Caitlyn Peace, Kelsey Peace, Cydney Shaffer, James Shaffer IV, Michael Hughes, and Bradley Hughes; and eleven great grandchildren, Bridger James Edward Shaffer, Presleigh Williams, Marleigh Williams, Kayleigh Shaffer, Kyra Shaffer, Wyatt Shaffer, Kaden Shaffer, Addie Shaffer, Gracyn Hughes, Easton Hughes, and Kai Hughes.
