Marvin Eugene "Gene" Nagel

November 3, 1924 ~ December 15, 2021 (age 97)

Marvin Eugene "Gene Nagel, age 97, of Eugene, OR (formerly of Clarksville, TN), passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2021.

Born in Windsor, CO, Gene was the second son of Jacob and Sophia Nagel. He married Wylodene "Dean" Dunn on September 26, 1945, after returning from England post World War II.

They led a loving, adventurous life together for 69 years and raised four boys - Terry, Charles, Dale and Bill. Gene proudly served in the Air Force for over 30 years. From flying on B-17s in WWII to commanding communication squadrons in Vietnam, Libya, Italy and Korea as well as many stateside assignments.  A life filled with adventures for sure.

Of the many accomplishments Gene had, none was more impressive than the care he gave and insisted on for our mother who endured the travesties of Alzheimer’s for over 10 years. Retiring from the Air Force in 1971 to Clarksville TN where he lived for over 45 years. One of their favorite pastimes during their retirement was traveling in their motor home across the states seeing old friends and making new ones. Gene was well known in the area and would go out of his way to help a neighbor or friend.

Gene will be laid to rest Thursday, January 20, 2022, at 1:00 PM, at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West (5817 Fort Campbell Blvd, Hopkinsville, KY 42240).
