Mary Jo Gootee Winters, 90, of Clarksville, TN, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018.

Mary Jo was born on December 24, 1927, in Clarksville, TN to the late Joseph Benedict Gootee and Juanita Jobe Gootee. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Samuel "Sam" J. Winters and son, John Henry Winters.

Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father John Patrick Day officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, from 3:00-7:00 p.m. with a Rosary Service to follow at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home.

Mary Jo graduated from Clarksville High School as Salutatorian in 1945. She married Samuel Johnson Winters on August 11, 1947. She obtained her Bachelor's Degree from Austin Peay State College in 1949 and went on to obtain her Master's Degree from Austin Peay State College in 1966. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great-grandmother. She was a lifelong member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Mary Jo is survived by her children, Joe (Linda) Winters, Jobé (Herb) Gilbert, Anne (Clark) DeNoble, Katy (Rick) Ninko, Emily (Reed) Bergen, Tommy (Patrice) Winters, Virginia (Ken) Jackson, Michael (Kelly Penrod) Winters, Martha (Lance) Stamper, Jimmy (Miriam) Winters, Chris (Heather Krivacka) Winters, Julie (Bobby) Reed, and Barbara (John) DeHarde; 39 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
