Maxine "Mammy" (Nicholson) Gupton

Maxine "Mammy" Gupton, age 88, of Clarksville, passed away April 23, 2018, at her residence.

Maxine was born October 18, 1929, in Henrietta, TN to the late Elise and Madell Brown. She was also preceded in death by her grandparents, George and Maude Nicholson and her beloved husband of 50 years, Cecil Glenn Gupton.

Mrs. Gupton was an employee in the Renegade Division of Acme Boot for 45 years and caretaker for her entire family. She loved being a member of First Baptist Church of Clarksville, where she was a nursery worker for those precious babies.

Maxine is survived by her daughter, Pam (Bubba) Whitfield of Clarksville; her favorite two grandchildren, Brandi Bryant and Jonathan (Emily) Whitfield; four adorable great grandchildren, Gracie Lynn Bryant, William Beau Bryant, Mackensie Maxine Whitfield, and Madilyn Sue Whitfield.

Graveside service will be held Thursday, April 26, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery with Dr. Felts Dent and Rev. Pat Van Dyke officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 26, 2018, from 12:00-1:30 p.m. at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Head, Wes Attebery, Tom Biggar, Clark Nicholson, Bill Kimbrough, and Jim Kimbrough.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Clarksville Nursing and Rehabilitation, Nurse Amy, and AseraCare Hospice.
