Stanley E. Leimer

Stanley E. Leimer, age 67, of Southside, TN, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, October 31, 2018. He fought a long courageous battle with Soft Tissue Sarcoma from Agent Orange exposure, during his service in the Vietnam War.

Stanley was born January 25, 1951, where he grew up on a farm in rural Bancroft, NE. He joined the US Army at the age of 19, in November 1970. He was an SP/4 of the 101st Airborne Division stationed at Ft. Campbell, KY in the Co. A 159th Aviation Battalion. He served as a Flight Engineer on the CH-47 Chinook helicopter. After serving in the military, he settled in Clarksville, TN where he worked as a farmer at the Allis-Chalmers dealership, at the Town & Country and Hadley Brothers John Deere dealerships, and at the Nyrstar Zinc Plant. He was also a master carpenter, who built his own log home by hand, from trees cut from his land. He devoted eleven years of love and hard work in the process from tree to fine trim work.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, November 5, at 12:00 PM, at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, with Bro. Jeff Burris officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday, November 4, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM, and Monday, November 5, from 11:00 AM until the hour of service, at the funeral home. 

Stanley is preceded in death by his parents, Reuben and Amy Leimer; and two sisters, Betty Ann Rosberg and Susan Hicks.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Betty Glass Leimer; two children, Stan Leimer, Jr. of Orlando, FL and Marie (Scott) Travers of Clarksville, TN; and four loving grandchildren, Emarie Travers, Averie Travers, Cara Travers, and Colin Travers. 

He also leaves behind nine siblings, Mary Lou (Paul) Rowland of Boonville, NY, Perry (Bonnie) Leimer of Grant, NE, Gary (Sue Anne) Leimer of Uehling, NE, Janice Kumm of Chambers, NE, Reuben (Karen) Leimer, Jr. of Clarksville, TN, Albert (Wendy) Leimer of Merna, NE, Fred (Alisha) Leimer of Cumberland Furnace, TN, Louise Eggerling of Brunswick, NE, and Glen (Beverly) Leimer of Lascassus, TN; brother-in-law, John (Patricia) Glass of Clarksville, TN; sisters-in-law, Dianne Glass of Southside, TN and Mary (Dan) Capen of Clarksville, TN; and many nieces, nephews, and close, life-long friends. 

Stanley's brothers will serve as pallbearers. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in Stanley's honor, to a charity of your choice.
