Being the oldest of the Everett Clan,I was not as fortunate as I would have liked to have been and did not see Donny very often. The last time was a trip to the Frazier Museum here in Louisville to the Fountain Ferry Exhabit..Donny was still In high school and the apple of everyone's eye. I have since found out things about Donny I never knew.He found a way into your heart no matter what. His Grandpa bragged about him constantly.I knew Donny was great but never did I know how great.Teddy and Susan did a fine job with this amazing person. He is someone who will never be forgotten and his memory will go on forever.I have a feeling he will also go down in history as one of the greatest pitchers of the Vanderbilt Commodores,if any of his teammates have anything to do with it. "With Love from your Aunt Sue"

My brother plays baseball for Clarksville High and has looked up to Donny as a role model for years. I always heard him saying wonderful things about Donny, not only as an athlete, but more importantly as a kind-hearted and caring individual. I cannot begin to imagine the terrible, confusing pain the Everett family is feeling now. Please know the incredible impact Donny had on so many people.
The James and Cohen families are praying for healing and peace.

Mr. And Mrs. Everett please know I am deeply sorry for your loss. My son was 15 years old and drown in May 21, 2016. My son and a friend were fishing then decided to go swimming.
I don't know exactly how you are feeling, but I do know how having your heart break in a million pieces because you've lost your baby feels.
I am praying for you and your family.
If you ever need to talk about how much you're missing your son, I would love to talk with you, mother to mother. 903-732-5249.

My heart truly aches over the devastating loss of this incredibly respectful, polite, brilliant, and talented young man. It was a great pleasure to have him in my English class several years ago. We made many wonderful memories that I am clinging to now. Furthermore, he truly honored me on his special senior night for CHS Baseball as his "special" teacher and presented me with beautiful roses. I think I can best sum up my feelings for Donny by presenting a copy of the letter I proudly wrote for his recommendation before he was named as the Gatorade Player of the Year for the State of Tennessee:

April 30, 2015
To Whom it May Concern:
Re: Donny Everett
As a veteran teacher with twenty years of experience on the high school level and fifteen years on the college level, I am often privileged to work with many bright, talented students. However, Donny Everett tops of list of students with whom I am been fortunate to associate. With the highest recommendation possible, I believe he is a superior candidate for this award.
What makes Donny stand out above other student athletes is his intense quest for distinction in each of his endeavors. Donny’s organizational skills are superb, and he is able to balance his studies with his baseball obligations. Donny fully understands that he is a student athlete, and being a student indeed comes first for him. He maintains honor roll status, while challenging himself with honors level courses. He always arrives in class with his carefully prepared assignment, and he displays a genuine passion for learning. Donny provides insightful and valuable contributions to class discussions; however, he also listens attentively to the opinions of others.
During the time period Donny was my English student, I was also teaching a hearing impaired student. I had elected to take sign language classes so that I could better communicate with my student. As a result of this experience, I frequently shared common words and signs with my other students. Donny picked up sign language very quickly, and his enthusiasm was contagious to his other classmates.
Another example of Donny’s positive influence on others occurred when a new student was enrolled in Donny’s class. I originally assigned the student to an empty seat near the back of the room, and I promptly noticed that the new student was struggling to make a successful transition to our school. After I moved the student to sit near Donny, the student began to flourish with his grades and overall disposition. Donny frequently went above and beyond to help the student understand the directions, and he often checked the student’s work before it was turned in. By going above and beyond, the student flourished under Donny’s tutelage. In this role, Donny exhibited strong leadership skills that others admired and respected. He frequently served as a group leader during cooperative learning activities, and I often witnessed Donny motivating and encouraging others in his group.
Additionally, Donny has proven himself to be trustworthy, reliable, and committed to excellence. I cannot think of a single time in which Donny turned in work that was late, nor can I recall any time he was ever tardy to class. He is well respected by his peers and other faculty members. During his senior year, his teachers selected him for the prestigious school leadership award out of over 300 seniors.
Thank you for considering this distinguished and accomplished student athlete.
Sincerely,
Dr. LoriAnne Williams

June 6, 2016 7:14 AM

I coached Donny in basketball in 6th grade at the YMCA. He was a big kid then and helped lock down the middle of the court for us. This was when our boys were learning about their respective jobs on the team. Donny was never really much of a shooter, but he could out-hustle and outrun any big man on the court. So, each time we got a rebound, his job was to sprint down the court and look for the outlet pass for a layup... it worked flawlessly for much of the game, getting point blank open shots several times... unfortunately, he shot the basketball like he pitched, with a lot of zip... I don't recall if he made many baskets that day, or not, and although our boys won the championship game, his effort, hustle, and smile was so contagious that the rest of the boys on the team were inspired to lift their game. He has been inspiring people ever since.

We love you and miss you Donny. (see attached image below)

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Everett,

Our hearts ache for you during this terrible time after Donny’s passing. Please know that Richie, Nicholas, and I are thinking of you, and that there is boundless love and prayer being offered for your family from hundreds and hundreds of people.
The short time we came to know Donny is an incredible gift—and we will always be grateful for the way he served such a high purpose in life, including helping the younger baseball players to grow and learn and to expand and absorb all that he offered as a role model. Donny’s quiet way of being a role model on and off the field will forever be etched in Nick’s memory. He is a better person for having known Donny and will always strive to follow his lead.
In this time of incredible sorrow, mixed with gratitude for the sheer joy of Donny’s life, please know we are with you in thought and in prayer.

During the first Richview/CA Cancer Awareness Pink Game, Donny laughingly agreed to wear a pink tutu and dance during the game for charity, if I could find him a pink tutu. Several girls who were dancers quickly offered to help. When presented with the garment at the game, Donny chuckled, shook his head...and danced for a crowd of about 1500 people in a pink tutu.
